Storing Desserts

You’ve purchased some of our gourmet desserts or a cake from us…now what?  Here are some dessert storage tips to help keep your sweets as fresh as possible for as long as possible.

Cakes:  We make real buttercream which means our frosting has butter in it, not shortening.  It does not need to be refrigerated unless it is a warm/hot day.  If you do need to throw it in the fridge because it’s starting to melt, pull it out 30-40 minutes prior to serving.  It will get hard; butter does that when it gets cold!

If you have leftover cake, you can pop it in the fridge to let the frosting get hard, then wrap it in saran wrap really well.  Make sure to put it in an airtight container if you plan to freeze it or continue to eat it for a few days.  DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE BOX we provided…it will dry out.  Our boxes are not airtight & are merely for transportation purposes.

Cupcakes: Same story as cakes.  If you do not plan to eat them that day, move them into an airtight container.

Cake Truffles: These can go in the fridge.  They are encased in delicious chocolate & rarely dry out.  They can last up to 2 weeks in the fridge.  You might prefer them at room temperature so leaving them out is just fine.  But move them into an airtight container either way.

Everything Else: If you are not eating the desserts you purchased from us the same day, they need to be moved into an airtight container.  Hmm, there seems to be a theme here…

Please note: We make everything from scratch.  This means the consistency & density will be quite different from store bought desserts & box mixes.  You can absolutely freeze any item you get from us…in an airtight container.
